The Opportunity:

We are looking for a Principal Electrical/Control Systems Engineer to lead the Electrical Department and continue our expertise in our control systems and equipment.

This role will be responsible for, and be intimately involved with, the development, design, programming, and support of a variety of electrical/PLC/SCADA/robotic control systems for industrial machinery and automation equipment. This involvement will be through the whole software/systems life cycle, from design through coding, testing, installation, configuration, documentation, and support. The role will also include the responsibility of managing the Electrical Department and defining the future direction of our control systems to remain ahead of the competition through state-of-the-art technologies.

Principal Control Systems Engineer - The Challenges:

* Responsible for developing electrical, controls, and automation solutions for equipment built in CWST Engineering (Newbury, UK)

* Providing technical support for that equipment as it is deployed in CWST facilities around the world.

* Travel to various CWST sites globally for equipment installation as well as control systems support.

* Success in this position will require a strong understanding of the electrical and mechanical aspects of the machines to provide the appropriate designs in electrical hardware/machine automation.

* Management of the Electrical department

* Assisting in the generation of machines, equipment, & support quotations.

Principal Control Systems Engineer - Your Expertise:

* Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field. Experience with electrical systems and components (circuit breakers, relays, switches, transmitters, power supplies, inverters, servos, etc.).

* Minimum 6 years of experience in a similar or complimentary role

* Demonstrated ability to apply sound engineering judgement to resolve technical challenges

* Programming experience is essential - including Microsoft Visual Studio C#, Ladder Logic, PLCs, Industrial Automation software (Beckhoff), LabVIEW, C++, etc.

* Electrical wiring layouts/schematics/diagrams using CAD tools, ideally Solidworks Electrical.

* Closed loop PID and servo control.

* Robotic systems and programming.

* Communication protocols (Ethernet, Profibus, EtherCAT)

* Experience in manufacturing processes is desirable.

* IT systems to facilitate remote support via internet & data acquisition via IP.

Principal Control Systems Engineer - Compensation / Benefits:

* £50k to £60k depending on experience.
