Estimator – Civil Engineering & Asphalt Surfacing

Position Overview: As an Estimator, you will play a key role in the success of our projects by providing accurate and competitive cost estimates for upcoming civil engineering and surfacing endeavors. Working closely with our project managers, engineers, and clients, you will be responsible for analysing project requirements, conducting site visits, and assessing materials and labour costs to prepare comprehensive estimates that align with project goals and budget constraints.
Key Responsibilities:
* Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to understand project requirements.
* Conduct site visits to assess project scope, conditions, and potential challenges.
* Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather relevant information for estimating purposes.
* Prepare detailed cost estimates, including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead costs.
* Utilize industry-standard estimating software and tools to generate accurate estimates.
* Review and analyze subcontractor bids and proposals to ensure competitiveness and compliance with project requirements.
* Present estimates to management and clients, providing clear explanations and justifications for cost projections.
* Participate in bid reviews and negotiations to secure new projects and contracts.
* Maintain accurate records of estimates, bids, and project documentation.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred).
* Proven experience as an Estimator in the civil engineering or construction industry.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex project requirements and specifications.
* Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, HCSS HeavyBid).
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
* Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy in estimating and cost analysis.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Knowledge of relevant industry regulations, standards, and best practices.
