SEN KS4 Teacher

Location: Berkeley, Gloucestershire

Salary: £30,000.00 - £44,870.00 (M1 – UPS2) plus £3,000 welcome bonus!

Hours: full or part-time hours will be considered

School Staffing Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a bespoke school in Gloucestershire for 11-16 year olds with SEMH needs, having taken the best elements of a mainstream school and the best elements of a special school to create an environment where young people can achieve their own goals and thrive in a future of their own choosing. We are currently looking for a SEN KS4 teacher, ideally with a science or IT specialism but other subjects will be considered.

The main purpose of the role:

As the SEN Teacher, you will deliver high quality teaching and learning to children and young people with SEMH and other complex or anxiety related needs who may present with challenging behaviours associated with their diagnosis. Some pupils may have multiple learning difficulties.

You’ll need to be able to teach your subject up to GCSE level (ideally Science and/or IT)

Experience in working with SEMH or ASD students is desirable

Key duties:

* Contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, having regard to the educational, physical and social needs of the students within a learning environment.

* Work collaboratively with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

* Maintain and use short, medium and long term plans in delivering the curriculum.

* Set, monitor and review personalised targets that will optimise learning for each individual.

* Monitor, assess, review and report on the progress and work of students to parents, team members, senior staff, examination and funding bodies through reports and identified meetings as directed and as is required through school policies and procedures.

* Maintain knowledge through training and research where appropriate and take responsibility for own professional development.

* Develop lesson plans analysing and self-reflecting on the outcomes.

* Contribute to the review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP and LAC reviews.

Experience

Essential:

* PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training

* To be able to teach your subject up to and including GCSE

* Experience of working in a special school environment and in particular with pupils with SEMH.

Desirable:

* Postgraduate diploma in SEN

* Experience of successfully delivering a differentiated curriculum to pupils with a wide range of needs
