Autism Support Worker

Company: CV-Library
Job type: Full-time

Are you looking for a career change, a job that 'gives back', returning to the workplace, or at the start of your career in social care – if so, we would love to hear from you!

Autism Unlimited runs a dedicated adult services programme, and we are currently looking to recruit Support Workers for the individual we support who lives in Sherborne.

To be successful in your application, you must have a full driving license and have access to your own vehicle.

We are recruiting Support Workers who are spontaneous, fun, resilient, adaptable and proactive to join our community team in Sherborne supporting Alex. The role would suit someone confident with cooking, able to help with finances and affordability and not afraid of physical contact, as Alex likes to give hugs and head rubs.

Alex is early 20s, gender fluid and lives in Sherborne. They enjoy going outside and developing and enhancing their social skills. Alex's interests include animals, caring for their pet cat, listening to music, and participating in a bowling game. Alex is also happy to have lazy days inside playing with their tech gadgets.

This could be perfect if you want a role where every day is different, and you want to help your community. We provide a comprehensive training programme, so you don't need experience to join us; you need a willingness to learn and a commitment to creating unlimited possibilities for the people we support.

The shift pattern is 8 am – 3 pm and 3 pm -10 pm and includes working alternative weekends and 1 'sleep in' shift per week. We have full and part time shift patterns available.

In addition to the feel good factor, other reasons to join us include…

* "Refer a friend" scheme - earn £400 per person you successfully refer!

* Overtime paid at competitive rates

* Comprehensive training programme consisting of 12 weeks of in-house, on-site and online training, accompanied by shadowing, coaching and mentoring

* The opportunity to join our neurodiversity network led by colleagues to ensure the voice of neurodiverse people remains central to our thinking and decision-making

* Health cashback plan to receive money back for dental, options and other treatments

* Salary sacrifice schemes for various electrical devices and bikes and many more

* A 24 Hour Employee Assistance Programme that provides practical information and support on issues like money management, family and legal information

* The opportunity to continue your professional development with accredited qualifications once you've passed your probation period

* We also have a network of Mental Health First Aiders to provide support to you in the event you experience issues relating to your mental health.
