Technical Support Engineer

£33,000 to £44,000 per annum - Gloucester - Office Based - 24/7 Support (Week On-3 weeks Off) - Dynamic Environment - Pension

This opportunity at a well-established telecommunications and broadband company, that works with Military, Government, Transport, and Utility markets across the UK, presents a chance for you to join a robust team with diverse specialisations. Following significant investment, my client seeks a motivated technical support engineer to contribute to the team's strength, with potential career growth opportunities.

The successful candidate must have a basic understanding of telecom technologies such as PDH, SDH, ethernet/IP, MPLS, GPON, DWDM, Cellular and Wireless networks. Also exposure to a variety of SNMP network system running Linux, Solaris and Window servers. A specialist knowledge in PDH or SDH would be advantageous.

As my client provides 24/7 support to it's customers, an ability to participate in a "week on - 3 weeks off" out of hours rota is essential. This will take the form of phone and email support and the occasional site visit if and when required.

Along with sound telecom knowledge, the ideal candidate will be a positive, hard-working individual, committed to learning and staying abreast of evolving communication technologies.

Key Skills:
·Proficiency with various test equipment, including oscilloscopes, optical power meters & light sources, frequency counters, BERT's, cellular scanners, and multimeter's.
·Familiarity with Cellular RTE, Routing & Switching protocols and network synchronisation.
·Ability to conduct testing and produce comprehensive test documentation & reports.
·Experienced in fault finding methodology.
·Ability to work collaboratively or independently, taking initiative as needed.
·Aptitude for training team members and customers.
·Experience in fault-finding methodologies.
·Capability to manage fault tickets from initiation to resolution.
·Experience with remote management platforms.
·Comfortable engaging with both customers and suppliers on technical and project related matters.
·Available to carry out field activities as and when the business requires.
