The Role:

We are looking to recruit an Operations Manager who will play a critical role in overseeing a diverse array of projects, which often encompass the planning, construction, implementation, and activation of civil, mechanical, and electrical infrastructure for emerging developments.

As the successful role holder, you will have full responsibility for ensuring projects are executed efficiently, punctually, and within financial constraints, all while adhering to the mandatory health, safety, environmental, and quality benchmarks. At the same time, you will strive to fulfil clients' expectations and specific requirements.

The key responsibilities of the role are:

* Demonstrating strong leadership in effectively managing a collaborative team and fostering a cohesive working environment.

* Managing a diverse portfolio of projects simultaneously, ensuring each project is executed efficiently and to deadlines.

* Providing guidance and mentorship to your team, supporting with their professional growth.

* Delivering comprehensive reports to the Head of Operations, offering insights into project activities and progress towards business goals.

* Overseeing the project management delivery team, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and project goals are achieved.

* Following all construction methodologies and successfully coordinating teams of various disciplines to optimise project outcomes and achieve the best results.

* Strategically minimising construction expenditure without compromising on quality, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency enhancement.

* Assisting in the development and improvement of construction-related policies and systems, ensuring compliance and efficiency.

* Maintaining a high level of technical proficiency, staying abreast of industry advancements and best practice.

* Adhering to Health & Safety policies and regulations, prioritising the well-being of team members and stakeholders.

* Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations are exceeded.

* Driving continuous process improvements and innovation to maintain competitiveness in the market.

* Ensuring operational sign-off at tender stages within your portfolio, providing expertise and oversight.

* Offering ongoing feedback and insights to the tendering team to enhance processes and improve outcomes.

* Collaborating closely with Sales and Tendering teams to understand project requirements and allocate resources effectively.

* Managing subcontractor contracts meticulously, ensuring compliance with milestones and contractual obligations.

* Overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of projects, maintaining focus on quality, timeliness, and budget.

The Person:

The ideal candidate will have a proven background within senior management, with experience in grid connections or the HV industry. Ideally, you will have previous experience working for an ICP (Independent Connection Provider) and/or a DNO (Distribution Network Operator).

The successful candidate will be self-motivated with excellent communication, interpersonal and management skills, together with a good track record of interfacing with clients and key stakeholders on projects. You will have a strong understanding of budget and cashflow management. You will be highly organised, with the ability to problem solve, act on your own initiative and make decisions under pressure. Advanced IT skills will be required, including confidence with Project Programming Software and the MS Office suite.

A HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering would be desirable, as would a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, project management, or a related field. A project management qualification such as APM/Prince2 would also be beneficial.
