Our client, a leading Lithium-Ion Battery Manufacturing Technical Centre is currently looking for a Mechanical Engineer. The successful candidate will work alongside a small but growing team of experienced Engineers in new product development and industrialisation of batteries and battery cells.
 
The Mechanical Engineer will:
Review and/or creation of engineering drawings to BS/ISO8888 and co-ordinate cross-departmental review.
Support the creation of DFMEAs and PFMEAs by providing technical input as well as deliver on actions to de-risk customer designs.
Work with the Procurement and Electrochemistry departments and external suppliers to evaluate new technologies in cell components, materials, and manufacturing methods as well as any outsourcing activity in realising in-house designs.
Design for manufacture and assembly (DFM/DFA) evaluations, for battery cells, modules, and packs.
Create product structuring, part numbering and BOMs.  
The Mechanical Engineer will have:
3+ years previous experience in the above accountabilities.
Excellent academic background with a Mechanical engineering degree at master’s Level (MSc, MEng or equivalent) with a minimum 2:1 award.
Knowledge of relevant safety standards (eg. IEC62133, UN38.3 etc…)
Direct experience of using Matlab, Minitab, ANSYS Mechanical, ANSYS Fluent, COMSOL or equivalent tools.
Awareness of functional safety standards (eg. ISO26262, ISO13849 etc…)
Knowledge of engineering standards, BS/ISO8888, ISO9001.
Ability to demonstrate a good balance between attention to detail, as well as flexible and pragmatic in approach to problem solving.
