Job Responsibilities:

Technical reviews at RFQ stage:

* Initial RFQ review with sales teams.

* Customer drawing review and identification of any concerns at enquiry stage (I.e. Safety Critical, SC’s and CC’s).

* Customer CAD review and completion of 3D models / fully dimensioned 2D drawings (Current CAD package – Autodesk Inventor).

* Liaise with customers regarding technical concerns identified during initial enquiry.

* Feasibility check and complete.

* Potential supplier selection.

* Supplier offers review.

APQP

* Hold regular meetings with individual territory teams regarding APQP documentation (APQP Gateways checklist, PPAP Trackers). Ensure feasibility documentation is completed accurately by suppliers and stored correctly within project files.

* Record meeting notes and all required actions as output from each meeting

* Follow up actions on a day to day basis to ensure timely transition from customer RFQ to fully qualified offer. Offer technical support with queries.

* Review PPAP trackers on a regular basis without presence of territory teams, ensuring documents are being completed and tracked as required.

Customer Interaction:

* Build relationships with customer engineering/technical contacts.

* To provide an assistance point of contact to all customers – if concerns are not relevant to this role then other colleagues are notified.

* Respond to queries and concerns in a timely manner

Customer Site Visit

* To provide technical assistance to territory managers during customer visits both in terms of discussing the company's portfolio and capabilities with access to wide manufacturing base. To visit customer Engineering teams to discuss new and existing parts – identify potential areas for concern and offer assistance where requested and if required

* To support and oversee customer specific projects.

Application Engineering

* Where requested, review customer application designs and give feedback on use of parts, particularly Automotive Fasteners.

* Recommend parts for use in customer applications that already exist in the company’s portfolio, enabling a cost-effective solution to both parties.

1. Engage a proactive approach to development of new parts -building company opportunities into new designs from scratch.

2. Reverse engineering for components that do not have drawings, i.e. create drawing from measuring existing parts.

3. Create a ‘bridge’ between customer requirements and capabilities of our manufacturers.

4. VA / VE projects where opportunities arise.

Customer Concerns

* Work with Quality team where customer concerns arise and help organise appropriate containment if necessary and in the absence of Senior Quality team members.

* Active involvement in 8D completion and submission to Customer.

* Where interaction with supplier is necessary regarding concerns, ensure this is followed up and supporting documentation is submitted for approval in a timely manner.

* Work with Quality team in ensuring supplier rejections are raised where necessary and follow through until receipt of replacement parts.

This is a permanent role. Working hours are 730am to 430pm Monday to Thursday, and 730am to 12pm on Fridays.

Experience required for this role:-

* Multi-disciplined engineering back ground, with experience in some of these fields (Production engineering, Industrial fasteners, pressings, turned parts, plastic injection moulding/rubber, castings or forging)

* Experience within automotive industry.

* Customer facing experience with the ability to communicate at all levels
