Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for an Operations Manager on a Permanent Basis, based in Staffordshire.

Role Summary

As the Operations Lead, you will spearhead all operational facets of the Nuclear Business Unit, with a proven ability to oversee complex projects to agreed margins while ensuring safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. Your role will be pivotal in contributing to the strategic development of the Business Unit, ensuring alignment with organisational goals, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You will play a key role in representing the client in fostering relationships with key stakeholders, enhancing customer satisfaction, and upholding the company's reputation. Whilst the role reports into the Business Unit Director – Nuclear, you will be part of the nuclear leadership team working alongside Nuclear Engineering Manager, Hardware Manager. Commercial lead and Bid manager.

Key Accountabilities

* As the Operations Lead, you will spearhead all operational facets of your Business Unit segment, with a primary focus on delivering projects or contracts with the agreed margin.

* Your role will be pivotal in contributing to the strategic development of the Business Unit (BU), ensuring alignment with organisational goals, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

* Conducting regular project reviews with Programme and Project managers, monitoring and taking action to ensure the BU continues to deliver on its strategy and plans.

* Develop and implement resource management strategies for optimal allocation of personnel.

* Coordinate resource allocation with engineering managers according to project schedules, priorities, and budget constraints.

* Conduct regular assessments of resource availability and capacity to anticipate future needs

* Developing and ensuring the implementation of lessons learnt from across the various BU’s.

* Managing safety, regulatory matters, reputation, and security risks associated with incidents and/or failures of service delivery that impact national capabilities.

* Excellent understanding of operational performance drivers, interdependences, and improvement mechanisms

* Leadership of large, specialist and geographically dispersed teams some potentially located on customers premises.

* Leading, engaging, developing, and motivating teams, communicating direction, developing best talent and capabilities, addressing poor performance and comfortable delivering difficult “conversations”.

* Problem resolution and decision making ensuring appropriate and effective utilisation of internal business partners and resources.

Personal Qualities

* Experience of developing and executing an Operations Strategy in complex delivery contracts in the public and private sectors.

* Experience and good understanding of the client’s markets and service offering.

* Understanding of the nuclear market and industry (or other highly regulated industry), with ability to apply insights into decision making.

* Able to demonstrate stakeholder management and the ability to develop effective relationships at all levels.

* Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills with a drive for outstanding customer service and high-performance culture.

* Strong knowledge of NEC 4 contracts specifically options A, C and E

* Developed knowledge across all business functions (i.e. finance, business development, HR and communications).

* Excellent understanding of operational performance drivers, interdependences, and improvement mechanisms

* Experience of leading transformational change.
