Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Senior Windows Engineer on a Permanent Basis, based in Staffordshire.

Role Summary

Across project lifecycles, the role is to contribute to and/or supervise the following:

* High-level and low-level design documents, test specifications, maintenance manuals.

* Installation of (as dictated by customer requirements):

* Windows in bare-metal and (primarily VMware) virtual environments.

* Various (integrated control system) COTS products.

* SIEM solutions.

* Configuration of Windows and COTS products to meet user requirements and customer/industry standards.

* Perform vulnerability scanning and address any resultant issues.

* Troubleshoot installation/configuration issues.

* Internal/customer testing and resolution of any resultant issues.

* On site commissioning.

Experience

* At least 5 years of experience in Windows Systems Administration.

* Proven experience in System Design and Troubleshooting.

Skills

* Excellent technical writing skills with the ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner.

* Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, able to recommend solutions to complex technical problems.

* In-depth knowledge of Windows Server, including installation, configuration, and maintenance.

* Experience with VMware virtualization technology.

* Strong understanding of networking principles and protocols.

* Knowledge of security best practices and experience securing Windows systems.

* Ability to manage and maintain Active Directory and Group Policy.

* Ability to perform capacity planning, performance tuning and optimization.

Responsibilities

* Contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of Windows-based systems.

* Ensure systems are secure, reliable, and performant.

* Develop and maintain technical documentation for Windows systems.

* Collaborate with other teams to resolve technical issues and implement new systems.

* Plan and execute software and security patches and upgrades.

* Develop and maintain disaster recovery and obsolescence plans.

* Help develop junior members of the team.
