My client, a leading groundwork contractor is currently looking to expand their team, with an Engineering Surveyor.

You will be assisting the Senior Engineering Surveyor and Engineering Surveyors with all of the following after initial in-house training.

Construction

1.

Immediately on indication of a positive tender outcome, develop tender information and calculations for construction purposes using AutoCAD and LSS software;

2.

Create all machine control models as required for the commencement of works on site. (Initially this is expected to be limited to ponds, roads & sewers, plus any cut / fill ground preparation works for the commencement of foundation excavations);

3.

Once the model referred to in 2 above is prepared, introduce the model to the site engineer (SE) for the site who will take if forward;

4.

Ensure the SE fully understands the model;

5.

Train the SE’s as required in 3D modelling software, site modelling and data export for machine control;

6.

Attend site with the Engineering Surveyors to install the 3D model and set up the machine control within the machinery, ensuring all co-ordinate and calibration checks as necessary;

7.

Carry out all station and control checks on all new sites with the Engineering Surveyors;

8.

Carry out closed loop traverses and calculations to establish the site control and or localisation for the job in hand, depending on information received from our clients;

9.

Carry out all prestart topographical survey or check surveys as required prior to the commencement of operations on site with the Engineering Surveyors;

10.

To carry out surveys using the in-house company drone as and when appropriate and process to incorporate with traditional topographic surveys for volume calculation works;

11.

Maintain all drone logbooks and records together with CAA authorisation as required so the renewals and licence can be maintained on an annual basis;

12.

Arrange with the SE for 8 above to be completed and checked prior to commencement of works on site, should the HQ team’s workload not allow;

13.

Carry out / or ensure that post topsoil strip surveys are completed and checked against design information and tender allowances;

14.

Produce accurate and detailed surveys in conjunction with the SE’s for issue to the clients and other bodies as required;

To assist the Senior Engineering Surveyor and Engineering Surveyors with all of the following:

Tenders

1.

Evaluate tender information on receipt of enquiry with the Estimator, Commercial Manager and Commercial Director (the Commercial team);

2.

Carry out earthworks volume calculations, area calculations, etc. as required by the Commercial team;

3.

Report all required quantities to the Commercial Team to the required tender programme schedule;

4.

Assist the Commercial Team as required generally in quantifying works using modelling and cad software;

5.

Promote the use of modelling and cad software to the Commercial Team;

6.

Always liaise with the Machine Control Installation Maintenance and Training Engineer on all aspects in relation to models created and localisations to be installed on all machine control as required.

Ideally, you will have a civil engineering degree or equivalent HNC. Salary subject to experience.
