My client is searching for a Family Solicitor to join their Otley, West Yorkshire offices.

The role would be to work alongside the firm's head of department. The Family Department is a busy department covering private family law, financial remedy, divorce, and cohabitation. The head of the department is a collaborative lawyer and accredited family mediator in ADR.

The head of the Department sits as a Deputy District Judge for the North-eastern Circuit, on a part-time basis in the county and family courts. They are looking for someone to help maintain and assist them in taking forward their busy family practice.

We are looking to recruit this additional solicitor, with succession into the practice management team in mind. The right person must be experienced enough to take on an existing caseload with a minimum of supervision and demonstrate enthusiasm and ability for the development of the department.

Main Duties

• Advising family matter clients and attending court and ADR as appropriate
• Administration of case file and accounting management in accordance with our procedures including regular review of files and conducting peer file audits.
• Ensuring that casework is promptly and efficiently billed.
• Developing the firm's procedures and documentation
• Marketing the department, the firm and yourself
• Attending training courses as agreed.
• Acquainting self with the contents of the Office manual and complying with its procedures.
• Maintaining own training and development record in accordance with SRA requirements for Training Contracts

Academic qualifications:

• 1+ Years experaince working as a Family Solicitor or Fee Earner
• Suitable and relevant academic and professional qualifications with subsequent updated training.
• To give clear, practical and accurate legal advice and to draft necessary legal documents correctly and appropriately.
• Keeping up to date and aware of all changes in law and practise
