SEN Teaching Assistant Role Overview:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse and complex needs. You will work closely with teachers and other staff to create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment. Your responsibilities will include providing one-to-one and small group support, implementing tailored learning plans, and using effective strategies to manage students' behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the planning and delivery of tailored learning activities to meet individual student needs.
Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEN, helping them to access the curriculum and achieve their potential.
Support the social and emotional development of students, fostering their confidence and independence.
Collaborate with teachers and other staff to monitor student progress and adapt support strategies as needed.
Implement behaviour management techniques to promote a positive and productive learning environment.
Assist with personal care and mobility needs as required, ensuring the well-being of all students.
SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is highly desirable.
Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or special educational needs (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an understanding or experience using PECs or Makaton.
Patience, empathy, and a compassionate approach to working with students facing challenges.
Ability to manage challenging behaviour and remain calm under pressure.
A clear Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check registered to the update service.
References that cover the last 2 years of employment, including a relevant job role.
