Astute's Renewables team is partnered with a visionary client who are looking to decarbonise the UK road freight sector. The client intends to significantly contribute to cleaner air in our cities by offering refuelling to vans and HGVs by developing a refuelling network consisting of renewable natural gas, hydrogen and battery electric.

The Senior Construction / Engineering Project Manager role comes with a salary of up to £75,000 and we require a meticulous and organised Project Manager to support the delivery of an ambitious programme of refuelling and recharging station developments across the UK.

With the support of a small team of technical, planning and project management specialists, this role will enable the delivery of engineering design, planning approvals, contractor selection and stakeholder management across several developments in parallel through diligent project, schedule and cost management.

Responsibilities and duties:
Working side by side with the Director of Electrical and Systems Engineering (and with wider team support), as the Senior Project Manageryou will:
Play a leading role in the project management and delivery of the development, construction and commissioning of refuelling and recharging stations, leading overall programme delivery end-to-end.
Plan, manage, and supervise the project schedule and cost plan for the delivery of the company's first 'package' of 2-3 sites, including programming the planning, procurement, and works delivery of our refuelling and recharging development and construction activities.
Engage and proactively manage contractors, consultants, and suppliers for a wide variety of technical tasks, including supporting electricity and gas grid connection requests, and/or working with 'private wire' suppliers and their advisers.
Procure, plan, review and supervise delivery by third party contractors, consultants and suppliers against their scopes of work for technical, project, procurement, cost and works tasks.
Proactively engage with risk, health and safety, and technical quality management with reference to industry norms and benchmarks.
Take responsibility for the overall project delivery schedule, proactively conducting site and works visits, and supporting technical and project delivery meetings as required.
As a committed member of a cohesive team, proactively provide advice, input, recommendations, and support to other aspects of the business, including interfacing with key commercial stakeholders.
Represent the company with energy and enthusiasm at internal, industry and investor events, conferences, meetings, and activities.

Professional qualifications & experience:
We are looking for someone with the following:
A relevant, technical degree, ie engineering
Ideally, a project management qualification, ie PRINCE2 or APM
At least five years experience in a similar role
Experience liaising with DNOs and ICPs
Experience successfully costing, managing and delivering projects of a minimum £5million value is critical

The Senior Project Manager role would suit someone who is/has:
Excellent drive for results and who has a consultative, yet assertive style
A clear and effective communicator, both orally and written
A genuine interest in the sector and in the nation's decarbonisation goals
Someone who is very commercially aware as well as technical and organised

Salary and benefits of the Business Development Manager role:
Salary depending on experience, up to £70,000
Provision for company car/car allowance to be discussed once projects go live
