The Applied Product Technical Specialist role represents MLS as the pump, motor, and controls industry knowledge leader and is responsible for driving incremental revenue and margins through technical support. Working in collaboration with the MLS team to effectively advise on the sale of complex products and project solutions for customers. The APTS is responsible for technical mentoring, coaching, and training for both customers and employees. This position builds customer satisfaction through consultative selling with an emphasis on sizing and selection of the best possible product solutions. This position reports to the APTS Manager.
Requirements
Clearly communicate the benefits of company services, offerings, and capabilities to establish a compelling value proposition in order to differentiate MLS from its competitors.
Instill confidence in customers by advising on how to best design and configure products to achieve optimal performance while preserving natural resources.
Collaborate with internal and external design, production, and/or engineering teams to determine how products could be made or modified to suit the needs of the customer.
Sells and consults with customers and customer-facing employees on technical aspects of products and applications.
Works collaboratively with customers to quickly identify and understand opportunities by researching, diagnosing, and identifying solutions to customer needs.
Serve as a technical trainer for products and applications for pump, motor, and control solutions.
Actively and consistently keep records in CRM of pre-sale customer interactions, opportunities, and quotes to help drive increased sales.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Experience Required:
Minimum of 10 years of pump industry experience.
Excellent technical knowledge of pumps, motors, and control applications.
Experience working cross-functionally and achieving increased sales results.
Experience developing strong relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers.
Experience working with CRM and ERP tools.
Knowledge of Microsoft office suite.

Education and Abilities Required
BS/BA Degree and 10 years of related experience. Will consider the additional applicable experience in lieu of a degree.
Valid driver’s license and have a driving record in good standing

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to:
Ability to remain at a stationary position 50% of the time.
Ability to move product weighing up to 50 pounds, including lifting, placing, pushing and pulling.
Ability to travel up to 20%
Work Environment
This position has the ability to telecommute at home or an alternative location.
Must live within an agreed-upon location/geography to service customers and employees.
