The Microbiology Manager provides leadership and supervision to line staff by coordinating day-to-day activities that support the operational goals and initiatives of the Hospital. Manager has oversight of the department's defined initiatives within the organization. Manager is responsible for ensuring staff compliance with hospital policies and meeting regulatory requirements within their assigned areas. This position works closely with the Director of Laboratory Services to meet the administrative and financial goals of the department. The Microbiology Manager is responsible for meeting the service and quality goals of the department. Assumes responsibility for daily operations and meets CLIA criteria for General Supervisor, Technical Supervisor and Testing Personnel. Provides clinical microbiology consultations to medical and hospital staff. The Microbiology Manager is responsible for the overall clinical, technical, and administrative operations of the clinical microbiology section of the Laboratory. This position requires flexibility of hours. Education: PhD in Microbiology required. Experience/Training: A minimum of four years experience is required with at least two in a supervisory capacity. Is knowledgeable in all areas of the laboratory and can apply JCAHO, CAP, AABB, FDA, and State regulatory requirements, as these pertain to the Manager position. Licenses/Certifications: Clinical Laboratory Scientist license issued by the State of California Department of Health Services. Skills: This position requires strong verbal and written skills and the ability to work well with diverse groups of employees.
