The Role

My client is a leading manufacturer in their field, who are looking to recruit an experienced Project Engineer for their Chemical Manufacturing site in Wigan. The successful candidate will join a well-established, large COMAH site on a days-based role.

Chemical Project Engineer

Main Responsibilities

Manage all phases of projects, including engineering design, procurement, planning, installation, evaluation.
Create designs to solve specific issues, including creating equipment specifications.
Develop a plan for each project that includes its requirements, cost and timings.
Identify, plan and manage required resources, which may include external contractors.
Identify and manage potential risks in the project.
Deliver projects on time, in budget and to the required quality.
Change requests must be explained in an understandable, clear, and focused manner.
Identify risk assessment requirements and participate in these as needed.
Analyse tasks concerning the project schedule.
Contribute to the verification and signing off of designs.
Actively participate in continuous improvement activities.
Participate in a variety of meetings and follow up/communicate instructions.
Create and/or update engineering drawings as required, such as isometrics.
Ensure compliance with codes, policies, practices, specifications, performance standards and other aspects of the project.

Chemical Project Engineer

The Candidate

Minimum of 5 years relevant mechanical project management experience
Hold a relevant Engineering degree
Technically proficient in mechanical design and maintenance of equipment such as agitators, reactors and pumps
Good working knowledge of the chemical industry, including agitated semi-batch reactors
Management systems such as Permit-to-Work, Management of Change & Lockout – Tagout
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience of a COMAH site ideally
