Position Description: As an IT Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities: Develop automation to improve routine tasks for various types of systems within IT Work with application/package deployments, patch management and various system integrations to drive continuous improvements Maintain, monitor, and support platforms relevant to the IT Ops Team Review and manage process improvements for system upgrades and deployments Conducts intermediate to advanced troubleshooting, testing, and debugging within the constructs of configuration management and automation Evaluate and identify process improvement throughout IT systems and supported solutions Establish monitoring and infrastructure health reporting for advancement of self-healing infrastructure principles Define and maintain operational processes, run-books and engineering tools (platform services, event logging, metrics monitoring, reporting and other back-end services) Provide on-premise and cloud automation, monitoring and alerting Position Requirements: This position requires the following skills and attributes: Minimum 3 years of Systems Administration with a focus on scripting and automation Comfortable with reviewing case, scripting and automating various IT processes (PowerShell, Bash/Shell, Python, etc.) Experience with technical deep dives into system performance bottlenecks Experience supporting container-based orchestration and deployment systems (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, etc.) Working knowledge of several configuration management systems (Chef, Ansible, Puppet, SCCM, etc.) and several monitoring tools and frameworks (Splunk, ELK, Nagios, etc.) Experience with infrastructure as code principles and tools (Terraform, Ansible, DSC, etc.) Working knowledge of report building technologies (SQL, PowerBI, etc.) Solid foundation in Linux/Unix/Windows Ability to be flexible in work schedule and assignment, this could include after-hours and on-call assignments Knowledge of IT service processes (ITIL) and best practices Ability to identify areas of improvement to continually improve service quality and reduce cost Exposure working with database systems (Microsoft SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, RDS, MySQL, etc.) Exposure with CI/CD Principles and Tools (Git, GitLab, Jenkins, etc.) Preferred: The following skills and attributes are preferred: College degree Project management, telecom, network, server, database or storage certification Benefits: Training and mentorship with ongoing learning and development courses On-campus wellness activities Comprehensive medical and dental and vision coverage Education reimbursement program 401(k) program with discretionary employer match Generous vacation accrual and paid vacation schedule
