Position Overview:We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Controller to join our finance team. The Assistant Controller will play a key role in supporting the Controller in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. Responsibilities:
Assist the Controller in managing the accounting functions of the organization, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate the month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations, accruals, and journal entries.
Assist in the development and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures to ensure internal controls and compliance with financial regulations.
Support budgeting and forecasting activities, analyzing variances and providing recommendations to management.
Prepare and review tax filings, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
Manage and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support to foster their professional development and ensure high-quality work.
Assist in coordinating external audits and serve as a liaison with auditors to provide necessary documentation and resolve any audit findings.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes and systems, driving efficiencies and effectiveness.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation or progress towards CPA preferred.
3+ years of progressive experience in accounting roles, with experience in financial reporting, analysis, and internal controls.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze financial data and identify trends and variances.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
