As a Rigger at Talent Source, you will play a vital role in supporting shipyard operations by safely and efficiently rigging and hoisting heavy equipment and materials. Below are the key responsibilities and requirements for this position:
Prior NAVY Boatswains Mate (BM) encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
Interpret rigging plans, drawings, and specifications to determine rigging requirements for lifting and moving equipment and materials.
Select appropriate rigging gear, such as slings, chains, cables, and hooks, based on load weights, dimensions, and center of gravity.
Inspect rigging equipment for damage, wear, and proper functioning, and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
Rig and hoist equipment and materials using cranes, hoists, and other lifting devices, while adhering to safe rigging practices and procedures.
Communicate effectively with crane operators and other team members to coordinate rigging operations and ensure safe and efficient load handling.
Perform rigging calculations to determine load capacities, sling angles, and rigging configurations for various lifting scenarios.
Secure loads using appropriate rigging techniques, including knots, hitches, and lashings, to prevent shifting or falling during lifting and transport.
Monitor and adjust rigging during lifting operations to maintain load stability and prevent accidents or damage to equipment and materials.
Assist in the setup and dismantling of rigging equipment, including rigging hardware, blocks, and sheaves.
Adhere to safety regulations and company policies to promote a safe working environment and prevent accidents and injuries.
Requirements:
Previous experience as a rigger in a shipyard or industrial setting.
Knowledge of rigging techniques, equipment, and procedures.
Certification or training in rigging and hoisting operations preferred.
Familiarity with crane signals and hand signals for communicating with crane operators.
Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
Physical ability to lift and maneuver heavy objects and work in various weather conditions.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
