Build Engineer
Location: Norfolk, own transport required
Hours: Monday to Friday, office based

We are seeking a highly skilled Build Engineer to lead the prototype and production phases of innovative projects for one of our clients based in Norfolk.
The role demands overseeing the transition from engineering design to the build phase, ensuring designs are manufacturable and meet high-quality standards. This includes managing the build process, assembly, testing, and validation. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, procurement, and manufacturing teams to facilitate product development, with a strong emphasis on design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA), bill of materials (BoM) accuracy, and optimizing build processes.

Key Responsibilities:
*Lead the build process for cutting-edge projects, managing assembly, testing, and final sign-off.
*Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to ensure support and alignment throughout the build cycle.
*Develop and refine build documentation and processes for maximum efficiency and clarity.
*Champion continuous improvement initiatives in build processes, focusing on efficiency, quality, and safety.
*Proactively address and resolve build issues to ensure projects stay on schedule.
*Perform detailed inspections and audits to maintain high standards of quality and compliance.
*Engage in prototype testing and validation, ensuring comprehensive product integration and performance.
*Provide technical guidance to build team members, promoting best practices in build quality.
 
Skills and Experience:
*Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
*Significant experience in a build engineer or similar role within the electric vehicle (EV) industry, demonstrating a thorough understanding of EV systems, components, and technologies. This experience is a mandatory requirement for the role.
*Expertise in product lifecycle management (PLM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, particularly with platforms such as Windchill, Creo, Infor, Syteline, or similar.
*Proficiency in CAD software for engineering review and design analysis.
*Exceptional problem-solving skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to quality.
*Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and process improvement methodologies is preferred.
*Adaptability to work in fast-paced environments with evolving priorities and tight deadlines.
