Marketing & Public Relations Manager Platte County (MO) Economic Development Council SUMMARY To provide staff support for the implementation of the goals and objectives of the Platte County Economic Development Council (PCEDC) as set by the Board of Directors and outlined in the annual Program of Work. This particular position performs duties of an external nature, i.e. marketing, business development services. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. REACHING EXTERNAL MARKETS THROUGH MARKETING AND PUBLIC RELATIONS BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & REAL ESTATE ACTIVITIES - Manages the Platte County LocationOne Information System (LOIS) - Assists Executive Director in site location projects - Responds to deadline driven Request for Information (RFIs) - Develops and maintains a database of commercial realtors, site selectors and developers - Works with the Executive Director on event participation in site selector and commercial realtor outreach - Develops prospects and follow up on leads generated from all sources - Responds to phone inquiries regarding business development issues MARKETING ACTIVITIES - Manages development and distribution of all external publications and communications - Drafts press releases as they relate to business development and organizational activities - Develops and maintains media relationships and contact lists for local and state media - Manages the organization s social networking tools in accordance with Platte County EDC s social media policy guidelines: Updates all social media platforms which include: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn. - Writes marketing articles for PCEDC E-News - Pitches story ideas to local media - Updates and maintains the webpage including but not limited to News, LOIS, graphics, and statistics, etc. - Creates informative presentations using PowerPoint - Writes speeches and event scripts - Assists in implementation of special events RESEARCH ACTIVITIES - Manages the assembly and distribution of statistical information that pertains to an external marketplace - Researches demographic and statistical data and coordinates the assembly and distribution to the Public including updates to the Platte County developments/ successes list OTHER - Coordinates business development and marketing programs as specified by the annual Program of Work including but not limited to Real Estate Tours, individual media tours, and Executive briefing - Attends, as assigned, organizational meetings, board of directors and action teams; takes minutes of the meetings and coordinate the communication of dates, times and administration of the various groups of the council - Perform other related duties as assigned SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION &/OR EXPERIENCE 3 to 4 years of related work experience performing duties and tasks similar to those defined above is preferred. A degree in marketing, communications, or journalism from a 2 or 4-year school may substitute for up to 3 years of experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of members or employees of organization. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: None OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES Ability to work with computer software, including Windows, Word for Windows, Excel, Publisher, Powerpoint, Dreamweaver for Webpage, ACT database and internet access. Familiarity with webpage terminology preferred.
