Regional Sourcing Indirect Category Manager (Remote) Location North America, USA, Maryland, Remote Job Reference DETECTIONNA00535 Job Function Operations Job Description The key purpose of the role is to provide Indirect procurement expertise to the business across: Detection SSA all divisional sites within the Americas region, to ensure that all requests from the business to purchase 3rd party indirect goods and services: deliver maximum cost value, risk management and competitive advantage to the business align with and optimize existing procurement strategies and preferred suppliers align to Procurement best practice, processes and company policies, providing an efficient and effective service to its end-users. Duties & Responsibilities Company-wide responsibilities: understand Procurements global and regional strategies and how the role impacts it assist in the execution and management of the key procurement processes, policies and systems, to ensure compliance to Smiths procurement and business policies; Procurement responsibilities: Detection SSA indirect spend management: Key point of contact within the Detection SSA organization responsible for managing all Indirect purchasing requests and activities. Americas Regional Sourcing team: As a virtual team member to the Americas Regional Sourcing Team, you will have responsibility to source, negotiate and on-board supply solutions in an efficient and effective manner to meet the defined business requirements & goals, utilizing: Smiths existing procurement systems and process optimizing existing procurement category strategies and approved suppliers Supplier management Develop and maintain supplier contracts and local supplier performance management plans Administration and day to day management: conduct procurement activities in accordance with stated Detection SSA, global and regional processes and policies Reporting and systems: ensure transparency, accuracy and consistency of data in the purchasing information systems Diversity & Inclusion We believe that different perspectives and backgrounds are what make a company flourish. The Individual Technical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Education: Bachelor's degree Experience 5 plus years of experience in procurement category management/buying within the environment of: Indirect procurement. multi-site Ideally multi country Ideally within the Industrial manufacturing sector Results orientated Sourcing: able to use leading procurement tools and techniques to develop and execute sourcing events and sourcing strategy development experience of managing the end to end P2P process within an enterprise level system i.e. SAP, Oracle, Glovia Contract implementation & management Negotiation: Able to develop and execute supplier negotiation plans Supplier management Setting and managing supplier performance plans Problem and issue management Communication: Strong written and oral communication skills Fluent in English with an international mind set Reporting & analytics able to use data to create insight and drive effective decision making. Planning and Decision Making: ability to work under pressure, in a complex multi-functional matrix team environment. Impact and Scope: Detection SSA full range of Indirect categories including sales and bid support This cross divisional and territory role will impact performance and practices within Procurement across sourcing, contracting, P2P processes increasing procurements spend under influence and benefits delivery.
