Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) Technician to be based in Detroit, MI. 
Position Details: To enhance transportation efficiency, safety, and overall system performance. Role will serve as a member of the TOC team that supplements and improves current TSMO efforts. This position will work with the TSMO Coordinator along with additional members of mobility planning team to optimize the performance of existing transportation infrastructure. 
Position is based out of client location near downtown Detroit, MI. 
Position Qualifications:  
Possess exceptional organizational skills to effectively prioritize multiple tasks in real time and in potentially serious situations
Possess exceptional communications skills both in written & verbal forms to effectively receive, document & relay information from numerous sources
Perform critical thinking functions and assessments and make decisions based upon circumstances
Ability to fluently work in multiple PC applications simultaneously
Ability to identify and propose approaches to solve new problems encountered
Experience with Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) 
Experience with reports, studies, systems integration, testing and more
Must have the ability to professionally communicate with the public regarding operational concerns on roadways in a layperson manner  
Role Responsibilities:  
Expert in Advanced Transportation Management Systems (ATMS), Automated Incident Detection (AID), Variable Speed Limit (VSL), Wrong Way Driver Systems (WWD) and Flex Route  
Expert User and point of contact for setup, testing and implementation
On site overseer for system users. Provide mentorship to specialists
TSMO Mobility Auditor  
High Impact review for correct impact classification
ITS used properly (AID notifications, ICM activated, VSL activated) 
Arterial Management 
Traffic Signal Optimization 
QA Intersections 
Suggest changes as needed for TIM
Analyze congestion maps to investigate areas that can be optimized
Make suggestions or investigate if signal timing changes can be made
Support Operations as needed for Transportation Incident Management (TIM), Work Zone & Events (WZ&E), weather or critical staffing issues
Performing advanced TIM Operations as needed, serving as expert TIM Coordinator and supporting real time operations during severe high impact events
Monitor signals and perform any necessary signal timing coordination
Monitor the Environmental Sensor Stations (ESS) & Road Weather Information System (RWIS) in ATMS
Serve in the control room as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) in ATM Flex Route & Active Transportation and Demand Management (ATDM) VSL
·Assist in monthly/annual audit reporting
Create & administer monthly training. (Google classroom) 
Update training materials. (Google classroom) 
Maintain and act as the SME for various checklists
Manage and implement new Burn In projects
Manage and add/remove devices in various platforms
Report and fix discrepancies within other platforms (MiDrive, Claris, ATMS, etc.,) 
Collaborate with the TSMO Coordinator and help define overall direction
Participate in FHWA Initiatives  
Participate in the SEMTOC Annual Self-Assessment and support the goals established
Monitor and maintain suggested detour routes
Other duties as assigned
