Requirements
Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)
Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program
Prior experience as a COTA preferred
Knowledge of occupational therapy techniques, assessments, and interventions
Ability to assist with evaluations and the development of treatment plans
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Compassionate and empathetic towards patients
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Familiarity with electronic medical records systems
Current BLS certification (Basic Life Support)
Responsibilities
Assist Occupational Therapists in conducting evaluations and assessments of patients' abilities and needs
Implement assigned components of treatment plans under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist
Administer therapeutic exercises and activities to improve patients' coordination, strength, and fine motor skills
Assist patients in using adaptive equipment and assistive devices to enhance their daily functioning
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide integrated patient care
Monitor and document patient progress, communicating any changes to the supervising Occupational Therapist
Educate patients and their families on strategies to promote independence and improve quality of life
Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient records
Follow infection control protocols and maintain a safe and clean environment
