Control Risks is hiring an Embedded Design & Engineering Project Specialist for a Fortune 500 Tech client. This position will focus on coordination, incorporation, and review of physical security requirements including site layout, barriers and fencing, access controls, intrusion detection systems, video surveillance, security lighting, and structural hardening for new build projects. In addition, the position requires close coordination with operational and technological security teams as well as architects and engineers across a variety of disciplines (Civil, Landscape, Structural, Architectural, Electrical, and Security).
This role is Hybrid and may be based in Austin TX, San Francisco CA, Washington DC, Seattle WA, or New York NY.
Role Responsibilities:
Ensure that all design requirements and guidelines are clearly communicated to the project team. This will require working across all levels of the organization to provide background and educate both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Attend meetings with project design teams with the purpose of coordinating protective design and physical security requirements, reviewing on-going project progress, and providing guidance on the implementation of standards, as needed.
Work with internal and external partners and consultants to ensure that physical security requirements are appropriately coordinated across standards, schematic design documents (drawings and specifications) and detailed design and construction documents.
Review design team drawings, contractor submittals and RFIs.
Work with internal and external partners to ensure that physical security systems are designed, constructed, commissioned, and maintained in accordance with internal standards and industry best practices.
Work with cross-functional partners, 3rd party vendors, and other subject matter experts to identify preferred design solutions.
Partner with other project specialists responsible for similar processes across the Global Security team to ensure consistency and alignment.
Support continual improvement efforts through evaluation of current practices; investigation of new technologies, means and methods; development of presentation materials, forms, and guidance documents; coordination and execution of pilots for new approaches and practices; and presenting recommendations and providing business justification to relevant partners.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering (Civil, Structural), or Construction Management and 3+ years of relevant work experience or 6+ years of experience in design and construction of physical security systems.
Knowledge of and experience with large-scale building design and/or construction management.
Experience with hyperscale data centers, mission critical, and/or technical facility projects.
Experience documenting, managing, and executing scalable and repeatable processes.
Experience in cross-functional and multi-disciplinary coordination through planning, design, and construction project phases.
Experience communicating technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Relevant professional registrations (e.g., AIA, PE, etc.) and/or certifications (e.g., CPP, PSP, etc).
The base salary range for this position is $90,000-$100,000 per year. Exact compensation offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This information is provided per California SB 1162.
