£56-70k (DOE) SRG are partnered with a global medical products and technologies company. Our client is focused on solutions for the management of chronic conditions, with leading positions in advanced wound care, ostomy care, continence care, and infusion care.

They are currently seeking a Lab Manager to join their team.

Role overview

Provide technical and analytical development support to T&I pipeline projects.
To manage, prioritise and oversee the analytical testing programme; ensure the effective planning, co-ordination and execution of all testing, and that methods and validation exercises conform to internal procedures, reflect applicable regulations/guidelines and meet industry best practice.
Actively manage the Analytical team including effective engagement, communication, recruitment, employee development and performance.
Accountable for meeting targeted KPI's and monitoring team performance; drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Accountable for the accurate reporting of all analytical and technical documentation.
Ensure highest levels of safety and compliance in accordance with EHS policies and laboratory quality systems and processes.
Collaborate with relevant project and departmental managers to effectively manage workloads, timelines and priorities within the department.
Ensures maintenance, calibration and servicing of laboratory equipment is performed in accordance with procedures.
Supports equipment qualification in accordance with procedures, including software validation activities for the deployment of equipment software packages.
Identify and address OOS/non-conformances in relation to analytical testing, procedures and processes; ensure prompt resolution of identified problems and implement remedial/corrective actions within the agreed timeframes.
Provide technical support and guidance to manufacturing sites; support research and trouble-shooting activities, define, and execute strategies for method validations and transfer of methods when required.
To keep abreast of current literature to continuously develop analytical methods and investigate new technologies and alternative ways of working.
Manage departmental budgets to ensure accurate budget setting and expense management.
Contribute as a key member of a R&D team in Design & Development projects under Design Controls.

Role requirements

Qualification/experience

Bachelor's Degree or higher in a relevant scientific subject.
Minimum 7+ years industry experience within a Med Dev/Pharmaceutical laboratory environment or similar regulated environment
Experience in Analytical Chemistry
Working knowledge and understanding of compliance with FDA and European regulations relating to Quality Systems.
Proven management background and experience leading a team of scientists.
Proactive with the ability to multi-task and manage a varied workload, including a flair for problem solving, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing solutions. ​
Microsoft Office skills are essential.Competencies

Understanding of product development process and design controls.
Competent in managing teams and individuals to achieve team and KPI objectives.
Competent as a technical approver of testing protocols/reports, validation protocols/reports, technical reports, SOPs, OCIs and TDs.
Competent in the use, calibration, and maintenance of advanced laboratory equipment.
Competent to manage the execution of method validation for new products/techniques in accordance with ICH guidelines.
Good, solid experience in the utilisation of computerised systems to manage data and information that assist in the efficient operation of the Analytical testing function (i.e. LIMS).
A good team player, proactive and recognizes opportunities for improvement; understands impact of issues noted in one study to the overall project; shares experiences and best practices.
Provides coaching to all team members to ensure their continued development. Sets clear expectations, provides guidance and recommends areas for improvement and training.
