Job Description
The Director, Benefits, is responsible for defining the strategy and service delivery of all benefits and wellness programs for Eataly team members including driving health, retirement and wellness programs to attract, engage and retain our employees while overseeing benefit plan management, open enrollment, new benefits offerings and the day-to-day support in responding to team member questions.  The Director, Benefits is a strategic partner putting in place processes and systems to provide best possible benefits within budget frameworks and ensure compliance to applicable laws and also manage Leave of Absence, Workers Compensation, 401k and Non-Qualified Deferral Program.
 
Collaborate with the VP, HR and VP, Finance to set the strategic direction, planning, alignment, design and oversight of all benefit and wellness plans and programs. Oversight of various benefits platforms including self-service portal, Benefit mailboxes, parts of HR Portal or individual vendors.
Manage the enhancement, implementation, and maintenance of all benefits and Wellness programs, including all Health & Wellness, 401k, retiree benefits, leave of absences, COBRA and other voluntary benefits.
Accountable for the design, development, enhancement, enablement, and implementation of the benefits and wellness strategy with a focus on wellness, retention and market competitiveness. 
Provides guidance and assistance to all locations on various employee benefit plans and builds systems and framework to ensure delivery and compliance. 
Manage relationships with benefit vendors (i.e. brokers, insurance carriers, record-keepers), trustees and other administrative service providers. Lead contract negotiations to ensure the benefits strategy aligns with overall company-wide strategic goals while keeping a keen eye on cost control.
Develop and implements a comprehensive communication strategy for all benefit and wellness programs. Create and/or maintain benefit policies, procedures, and program material.
Assures company compliance with provisions of legal requirements.  Supervises preparation of reports and applications required by law to be filed with federal and state agencies, such as the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, insurance commissioners and other regulatory agencies. Reviews and analyze changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits and reports necessary or suggested changes to management. Coordinate company benefits with government sponsored programs.
Prepares and executes with legal consultation, benefit documentation such as original and amended plan texts, benefit agreements and insurance policies. Instruct insurance carriers, trustees and other administrative agencies outside the company to effect changes in benefit programs. Ensures prompt and accurate compliance.
Collaborates with HR team members to understand the competitive landscape, respond to needs and put in place good practices as well as with payroll to ensure the timely and accurate distribution to employees.
Oversees Leave Management, including company Parental Leave Program, ensuring a good employee experience and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Develops wellness offerings that resonate with employees and adds to their engagement and retention. 
Administers Retirement plans including 401k /Non-Qualified Deferral Plans
Responsible for Workers Compensation, including managing claims and using data and partnering to put preventative programs in place to prevent injury.
Reviews financial information and monitors budget to accurate forecasting
Builds, supervises and monitors a cohesive team of benefits specialists to manage administration of the Company’s employee benefit plans.
