The Quality Manager plays a key role in implementing and maintaining an integrated Quality Management System (QMS). This position ensures compliance, fosters a culture of continual improvement in products, processes, and supplier relationships, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to align quality strategies with customer needs and business objectives.
The Quality Manager serves as the owner and administrator of various aspects of the quality system, including supplier management, customer feedback, process control, internal audits, change management, and design control.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
* Plans, implements and directs a quality program consistent with ISO and AS9100 quality systems.
* Maintains and communicates quality objectives in line with corporate policies and goals.
* Stays informed about government and industry quality codes and standards.
* Assists in daily quality-related requirements on the shop floor, including in-process and final inspection of parts and assemblies.
* Develops and directs internal audit programs, customer audits, certification audits, and audits of vendors/suppliers. Resolves issues and non-conformances identified during audits.
* Leads investigations of customer complaints, ensuring timely implementation of corrective actions and effective communication with customers.
* Leads investigations of internal non-conformances, ensuring root cause corrective actions are implemented promptly.
* Drives efforts to reduce quality issues, including corrective action, preventive action, and addressing supplier quality concerns.
* Ensures purchases of materials meet customer requirements.
* Works with Manufacturing and Quality Engineers in the preparation of Quality Data Packets.
* Takes an active role on the quality control team, leading in document and data control.
* Leads and records the company's quality management review meetings.
* Utilizes six-sigma quality tools when appropriate to define, measure, analyze, improve, and control processes and outcomes.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelors degree in industrial management, quality management, or a related field.
* Three to five years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
* Experience with ISO and/or AS9100 quality systems, quality planning, and mechanical inspection.
* Previous supervisory experience, preferably in a quality function.
* Capability to resolve complex manufacturing problems and troubleshoot manufacturing/production systems.
* Experience and knowledge with ASME Y14.5.
* Experience with PC DMIS.
* Experience with Epicor or other ERP systems.
* Experience with special processes such as plating, welding, heat treat, etc.
* Knowledge of CMM and injection molding.
* Experience with Supplier Certification and Supplier Quality Planning.
* ASQ or similar professional certification.
* Working knowledge of quality improvement tools, including Six Sigma.
