AHRC NYC is looking to hire an Employment Skill Coordinator (ESC) for our Queens and Brooklyn programs. The Employment Skills Coordinator (ESC) has the dual responsibilities of creating, locating, and developing community contracts and employment opportunities and of coordinating orientation and training of program participants. The ESC markets the program to the community in order to develop integrative social and work opportunities for program participants, while at the same time providing training, evaluations, and counseling to participants at the job sites and in the community.
Expected outcomes for the ESC include, but are not limited to, successful marketing of the agency’s services to prospective employers, thereby broadening or increasing the number of opportunities available to the agency’s program participants; enhancing participant employability by modeling appropriate social and work behaviors and skill acquisition for participants; developing and implementing vocational training curricula/job club that addresses individual daily living and recreational skills; and establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with participants, families, employers, participant co-workers, volunteer community sites, schools, transition coordinators, and any other potential stakeholders in the employment process.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
§ Market the agency’s program so that members of the community will participate in providing social, recreational, or work-related activities to program participants, including having direct responsibility for increasing the agency’s public exposure in order to market the program. Also develop direct relationships with community sources to develop volunteer opportunities for program participants.
§ Establish individualized assessment/development plans for program participants with a particular focus on developing appropriate work skills and social behaviors. Plans will include provision for full range of employment supports (e.g., travel training and/or transportation, extended support job development, ongoing individual and group counseling, hands-on instruction in performing job tasks, supported implementation of pre-vocational services, post-assessments, etc.) and for intensive social competency training (e.g. daily living skills, recreational skills, specialized social behavior instruction, etc.).
§ Travel to job sites and other community sites to train and supervise program participants, as well as evaluate and implement the skills training process. Travel will include responsibility for transporting program participants in agency vans, as needed.
§ Ensure the timely and accurate maintenance of participants’ files. Ensure that all paper work related to any funded sources for all individuals to whom support is provided is completed in compliance with the funders’ and the agency’s reporting requirements and standards.
§ Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with participants, employers, Medicaid Service Coordinators, volunteer sites, and any other stakeholders in the employment process. Develop ongoing relationships with participants’ family/guardian and/or residence as necessary and appropriate and assist with coordinating meetings of families/guardians and Medicaid Service Coordinators, as needed.
§ Provide ongoing follow-up services to participants, as needed. Refer participants to appropriate community resources, as necessary.
§ Ensure that issues of difficulty with employers are appropriately reported to a program supervisor to ensure ongoing positive employer/community relationships.
§ Perform all related duties as assigned and attend all trainings and staff meetings, as required.
