At MessageGears, the Product Design team strives to build a cohesive and consistent user experience across the MessageGears platform, both visually and functionally. Senior Product Designers collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Content Designers, and other Product Designers to help discover and define problems and create a productive, minimal, and human experience. As a UX design leader, the Senior Product Designer leads the direction of the experience design, visual style, and design tooling of the MessageGears platform. They act as a centralized resource, helping to triage large-scale experience problems as the need arises, maintaining and improving our Design System, building comprehensive accessibility standards into our workflows, and defining guidelines and best practices that inform how teams design and build products. Senior Product Designers split their time between UI design and UX/research-focused activities.
Requirements
Job Functions
Deliverables: Create deliverables for the projects you support (for example: competitor analysis, low fidelity wireframes, high fidelity mockups, prototypes, journey maps, user flows, design vision, and so on) that help define the vision and execution of solving real user problems through the user experience.
Communication: Communicate the results of UX activities with a strong point of view to the UX team, cross-functional partners within your projects, and other interested MessageGears team-members using clear language that simplifies complexity.
Research: Independently conduct solution validation with minimal guidance from your Product Design Manager and incorporate insights into design decisions to fulfill user and business needs.
Usability: Proactively identify both small and large usability issues within your projects, and help influence your Product Manager to prioritize them.
Iteration: Lead and coach iteration of design work within the validation stage for your team(s).
Design system: Actively contribute to the MessageGears Design System, help determine whether components are single-use or multi-use, and provide recommendations to designers regarding new component requests.
UI copy:  Collaborate early and often with a Technical Writer on microcopy to ensure user experiences are efficient. Help improve docs and incorporate documentation within the UI as needed to assist users in moving through their workflows.
Design reviews:  Lead and participate in Design Crits, and model best practices for giving and receiving feedback.
UX debt: Help reduce the creation of additional UX debt with MVPs (minimum viable product) and advocating within your projects the importance of releasing value to users. Identify and influence the prioritisation to fix UX debt when it occurs.
Process:  Suggest improvements to the Design Process that help evolve the design culture and best practices across the organisation.
Collaboration: Support your Product Design Manager and Product Manager in identifying dependencies between projects and phases and advocating for cross-team collaboration when needed.
Leadership: Act as the Product Design lead for assigned initiatives, responsible for the delivery of design specs and running collaborative design sessions with team mates. 
Mentoring: Mentor other members of the UX team on how to approach design problems, solicit feedback, and drive for impactful outcomes.
Recruiting: Be available to interview potential product design candidates.
Public presence: Help promote MessageGears publicly by writing blog articles, giving talks, contributing to the wider Design community, or responding on social media, where appropriate.
Conduct all business in accordance with MessageGears policies and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
You have a passion for and deep appreciation of UX/UI principles with advanced understanding of responsive design and best practices.
Deeply understand the technology and features of the projects you are assigned and proactively learning others.
Working knowledge of HTML and CSS. 
Expertise with  modern design tools.
Solid knowledge and application of user testing and usability testing methodologies.
Working knowledge of iOS/Android design principles and software development frameworks such as React, Javascript, Angular, Python, Ruby, APIs, or other web scripting languages.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE DESIRED:
5 - 7 years of experience and knowledge of UX/UI design (web agency or SAAS background).
Post-graduate degree in a design-related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Strong portfolio of work to showcase.
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
Track record of delivery and experience working in teams, often within time and budget constraints.
