Junior Civil Engineer

Company: LaBella Associates
Job type: Full-time

The Junior Civil Engineer will collaborate closely with other engineers and CAD technicians on a variety of civil, solid waste, and environmental projects in the Charlotte, NC office. These projects are not only challenging but also offer unique opportunities for design. In this role, you will be responsible for creating sustainable and cost-effective solutions by designing solid waste facilities that meet the specific needs of our clients. These projects will require a blend of civil and environmental engineering skills, such as land development (including grading and stormwater management), leachate collection and treatment, renewable energy designs, and organic waste management. Whether it's a brand new, operational, or closed solid waste facility, each project presents its own distinct challenges. This means your work will always be interesting, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution.
Duties
Projects will include solid-waste related site development projects: developing master plans, design drawings, design of stormwater management and erosion control systems, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
Preparing various types of related reports and studies to secure permitting for projects.
Drafting work for scoping/conceptual work/engineering packages.
Position will require some travel to clients’ facilities to better understand design issues and to monitor construction progress.
Requirements
Minimum requirements include a BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Passed the FE Exam with intent to obtain Professional Engineer license, and 0 to 5 years of experience, including solid waste, land development, or closely related projects.
Knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil3D.
Ideal candidate has the traits of a team player who is enthusiastic about all aspects of engineering and project management and can lead projects from planning and preliminary engineering through design and construction.
Must have good communication skills, be a team player and be able to relate well to project team, clients, regulators, and contractors.
