About the role

Equipment Technician – Asset & Technology team (formerly Plant & Fleet) - Derby

Balfour Beatty have an exciting opportunity for an Equipment Technician to join our Asset & Technology Solutions Team based in Derby.

A major branch of our business is our Asset & Technology Team, who provide in-house solutions such as HGVs, tower and crawler cranes, piling equipment, fire and security services, suction excavation, modular buildings and driver risk management.

They are also responsible for the Site Mobilisation Hub which acts as a catalyst for ensuring all of our projects are mobilised with the right plant, fleet and equipment on time and that we always use our in-house services for best value.

You will ensure customer requests are processed accurately, and equipment is maintained to the required standard. You will also provide an efficient and finely tuned operation for the internal client.

What you'll be doing

Some other key areas will include:

To participate in the annual stock take, constantly paying great attention to detail;
Challenge and accurately process requisitions within 24hrs of receipt;
Communicate delivery / return notes to site as they are generated in;
Inspect equipment that has been sent to and from site/suppliers;
Carry out equipment testing, calibration & inspection as required;
Pick equipment from requisition & pack suitably ready for transport;
Load and unload delivery vehicles with plant & equipment.

Who we're looking for

To join us in this role, we would like you to have the following:

Experience and knowledge of Maintaining hydraulics & electrical lifting equipment;
Health & Safety in the workplace knowledge;
Experience of working in a stores environment;
A confident individual able to communicate with both internal and external clients.

In addition, ideally you will have:

Preferable Lifting Equipment Engineers Assoc. (LEEA) Part 1 & 2.
