Position Overview
St. Catherine’s School seeks a committed, enthusiastic, and innovative Visual Communications Specialist to begin work for the 2024-2025 school term. The Visual Communications Specialist maintains St. Catherine’s brand and visual identity across a range of digital and print media. The Visual Communications Specialist is closely aligned with the Director of Communications and plays a key role in ensuring St. Catherine’s graphic designs are consistently innovative and high-quality.

Position Status: Salaried, exempt, full-time, regular, 12-month 
Hours of Work: Standard work week. Evening and weekend work may be required.

Requirements
Essential Responsibilities
Serve as the lead designer for St. Catherine’s print and digital materials and provide graphic design support for web, social media and email communications.
Work with the Director of Communications to develop and implement a modern, innovative digital publications strategy that connects the brand identity in St. Catherine’s print materials with our web, email and social media communications.
Collaborate with St. Catherine’s Admissions team to create strong print and digital communications materials that reflect St. Catherine’s brand and support the successful execution of the School’s recruitment and retention strategies. 
Collaborate with St. Catherine’s Alumnae and Development team to develop solicitations, event invitations and other materials that support St. Catherine’s annual giving and alumnae engagement goals. 
Manage visual updates to St. Catherine’s website and work with colleagues across the school to ensure the website remains polished and up to date.
Produce video content on behalf of St. Catherine’s communications team as needed. 
Work with the Operations Department to oversee the development, installation and maintenance of all campus signage including maps, banners, emergency signage and more. 
Provide expert advice and support to colleagues on the Communications team and across the school as they handle small-scale design projects using tools such as Canva. Manage St. Catherine’s school-wide Canva accounts to ensure they are organized and reflective of St. Catherine’s latest brand and visual identity guidelines.
Manage the work of printers and other vendors to maintain a high standard of quality for St. Catherine’s print materials and ensure all materials are delivered on time and on budget. 
Actively and joyfully participate in the School community via special events, professional development days, and the normal calendar of School events, including some nights and weekends.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related fine arts field, and at least two years of experience in a communications role, ideally in an education or nonprofit setting.
Professional experience with both digital and print design projects.
Proficient in the use of graphic design software, particularly InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Experience in Google platforms (Drive, Docs, Calendar, Gmail); ability to learn new tools, software and web-based systems.
Strong photography skills. Ability to collect and edit video content is a plus. 
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Must have acute attention to detail combined with the ability to prioritize, collaborate and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
Must be comfortable working collaboratively as part of a team. 
Physical Demands and Work Environment 
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to manipulate, handle and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance;  stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; and smell. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 
Ability to become CPR and First Aid Certified. 
Travel 
Occasional overnight and out-of-area travel may also be required for special events.
