Financial Analyst - FP&A Team

The Financial Analyst will be a pivotal member of the Financial Planning & Analysis team; providing analytical support to drive action and superior business performance in a fast-paced role. This role will primarily operate in a business analyst function helping understand the drivers of Spindrift’s Sparkling and Spiked brand performance and the performance of its respective categories. The Financial Analyst will also work with cross-functional teams to problem solve and identify solutions to business opportunities. This role spans three key areas: 1) Business analysis: Utilizing syndicated data platforms to understanding Spindrift’s and its competitor’s performance in its respective categories while uncovering opportunities for growth. Additionally, analyzing promotion effectiveness with Spindrift’s customers; 2) Business Intelligence: Support and manage Spindrift’s business intelligence tool in order to develop deeper insights into business drivers across departments; and 3) Full business engagement: collaborating with all departments and improving business acumen. The ideal candidate has the ability to translate business data into digestible information, and can take charge on a project while continuing to deliver on day-to-day deliverables. Specific responsibilities include:
Integration and Communication
Mine and synthesize multiple sources of data (macro, trends, competitor; category takeaway; internal forecasts across channels) and tell the story of what is happening in and around our Sparkling and Spiked business
Present clear and compelling analyses and recommendations that drive problem or opportunity identification. Consistently delivering quality work on commitments
Interpret, evaluate, and interrelate data, developing integrated business analyses and projections to incorporate into strategic decision-making
Develop an expertise and understanding of the Sparkling Water and Hard Seltzer category
Analysis
Deliver monthly reporting and insights across several business domains including consumer, customer, competitor, and market performance via database management and/or synthesizing multiple datasets
Work across departments to analyze and understand the business and category performance drivers
Conduct and coordinate financial, product, market, operational and related research to support strategic and long term business planning
Complete ad hoc business analysis and reporting for senior management
Understand and communicate the financial and operational impact of any changes
Problem Solving
Collaborate with Finance and Sales leaders to analyze business performance metrics and identify opportunities and optimization
Support marketing and innovation teams with ad hoc analysis and deep dives, forming clear, actionable data driven insights to help drive business decisions
Determine solutions to business opportunities and put into motion the right course of action to win
Demonstrate leadership and be a consulting partner to business unit directors
Improve current workflow by studying current practices and designing modifications
Essential Functions
Lead syndicated data analysis, including monthly reporting packages for Sparkling and Spiked business leaders
Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones, and required tasks
Proactively communicate key learnings from data analysis and actions with internal stakeholders
Manage small to medium-sized internal systems/application development projects within assigned areas from inception to successful implementation
Update analysis summaries on a cadenced basis for business managers
Responsibilities will fluctuate between regular, planned activities (60%) and ad hoc analysis (40%)
Requirements
Prior experience working with, and detailed understanding of, syndicated databases preferred (IRI, VIP, Nielson)
Prior experience working with and detailed administration of a Business Intelligence platform preferred (Domo, Tableau); SQL experience a plus
Bachelor’s Degree required
Minimum of 3-5 years progressive business experience with CPG and/or analytical experience preferred
Prior experience in positions requiring strong analytical acumen coupled with written and verbal communication to senior level executives
Experience working with and understanding ERP systems preferred
Comfort working in situations with ambiguity and/or with fluid parameters
Detail-oriented, analytical, and inquisitive
Working Conditions
Ability to work in an open floor plan office in Newton, MA four days a week
