Smoker & Company is a thriving CPA firm with offices located in Lancaster and Berks County. Our mission is to meet the total accounting, tax and business development needs of our clients in order to enhance the value of the business and individuals we are privileged to serve.
We are currently seeking a Tax Attorney to support our clients’ state and local tax needs. The ideal candidate for this role would have undergraduate education and/or experience in accounting as well as a law degree and experience. Compensation is based on experience.
Requirements
· Creating and applying the state and local tax laws to benefit our clients while minimizing their tax obligations
· Completing Sales & Use Tax Reverse audits
· Reviewing client companies' accounts payables data and using tax accruals to determine where sales and use tax is paid
· Analyzing sales and use tax payments for refund opportunities
· Developing appeals schedules and documenting the transactions for a requested refund
· Developing appeals and representing client companies at administrative levels such as PA Board of Appeals and Board of Finance and Revenue
· Elevating appeals and engaging in settlement negotiations as necessary with the Office of Attorney General
Qualifications
· Juris Doctorate Degree
· Undergraduate Degree and/or training in Accounting or a related field is preferred!
· Strong professional ethics / integrity / reliability
· Dedication to providing and ensuring exceptional client services
· Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
· Superior understanding of the entire Internal Revenue Code, tax laws of the Commonwealth of PA, and local jurisdictions and adjoining states
· The immediate ability to work in the United States
