, the flagship publication of , is looking for a detail-oriented, process-focused, and obsessively organized professional who is committed to the clear communication of sophisticated ideas about international security. This is a full-time position that is ideal for someone who has a background in national security, broadly defined. Please note this is not a remote position. We have a hybrid schedule of three days in the office a week. As such, we will only consider candidates who live in the Washington, DC metro area or who are willing to relocate there.
The Position
This role is essentially for a project manager who can also edit. Every week we publish a slew of articles, podcasts, and newsletters related to strategy, defense, and foreign affairs. Our production editor will be responsible for coordinating and orchestrating the processes that make it a symphony rather than a cacophony.

Requirements
Proven experience project management experience (we will ask for references who can attest to this)
Two years of editorial experience. This does not mean you need to have been employed as an editor, but you should be able to demonstrate that a past position has involved serious and sustained wordsmithing
Familiarity with defense and foreign policy issues
Exceptional and obsessive attention to detail
Proven track record of delivering against short-term deadlines
Exceptional and elegant written English
Patience and rigor
Ability to work collegially with others, to include difficult personalities (not all authors are a walk in the park, sadly)
Ability to work flexibly as part of a small team
Right to work in the United States
