Staff Accountant

The Coalition for the Homeless is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Staff Accountant. As a leading non-profit organization dedicated to ending homelessness in our community, we are committed to providing assistance, support, and resources to those in need. The Staff Accountant will play a vital role in our organization by managing financial transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and assisting with financial reporting and budgeting.
Responsibilities
Prepare and analyze financial statements, utilizing accounting software
Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accurate record-keeping and documentation
Monitor cash flow and assist with cash management activities
Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
Assist with annual audits and liaise with auditors
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and files
Assist with the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts
Provide support to other departments regarding financial matters and inquiries
Collaborate with team members to identify areas for process improvements and implement changes as needed
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team
Prior experience working in the non-profit sector is a plus
