The API developer is passionate about APIs. They have experience building for the developer experience, both internal and external audiences.
The API developer is a creative problem solver. There will be problems that will not have a straightforward solution. The ideal candidate for this position can weigh possibilities and provide recommendations.
The API developer is effective at communicating. They work product management, architecture, and program leadership. The ability to provide simple explanations to complex topics is critical.
The API developer will be a technical advisor. In this role, an ideal candidate will bring strong technical skills and the ability to provide direction to the immediate team and the broader program.
The API developer is a self-starter and willing collaborator. The current team is small, one developer and a team manager. Even though the team is small, there is a broader EXP.O NOW program with many teams the API team works with.
Primary Responsibilities
Support the API Product.
Create and implement API standards.
Build and enhance the API Platform.
The API Platform team's role is as an enabler for the EXP.O NOW Program to build and scale API connectivity for our customers. The API developer's primary responsibility will be owning the platform and standards our internal teams will use to publish APIs.
The API developer will be involved in building and configuring our API gateway, CI/CD pipelines and API management tools. They will be involved in enabling development teams to build customer facing APIs through enhancing the gateway and understanding the different technologies and applications upstream and downstream from the gateway itself.
The API developer will partner with product management and architecture to set API standards, such as what is required in a design document and test suite before allowing a merge request.
With a small team, the API developer will be involved in upgrading and testing our technologies with support from our Systems team. The API developer will be tasked with finding and implementing automation in our process.
This position is on-site and will reside in the greater Seattle, WA. area at one of the following locations depending on availability. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.
