Job Overview:As a Senior Tax Accountant, you will play a key role in providing high-quality tax planning, compliance, and consulting services to our clients. You will leverage your expertise in tax laws and regulations to minimize tax liabilities, optimize financial strategies, and ensure compliance with applicable laws. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex tax issues effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Planning and Strategy: Develop tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax benefits for individuals, businesses, and other entities. Provide proactive tax advice and guidance to clients on various tax matters.
Tax Compliance: Prepare and review tax returns, including individual, corporate, partnership, and other tax filings. Ensure accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
Research and Analysis: Conduct research on tax laws, regulations, and rulings to address complex tax issues and provide comprehensive solutions to clients. Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations and communicate potential impacts to clients.
Client Relationship Management: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients regarding tax-related inquiries, issues, and planning opportunities. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing exceptional client service and personalized tax advice.
Team Leadership and Collaboration: Supervise and mentor junior staff members, providing guidance and support in tax compliance, research, and client service. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated tax solutions and support firm-wide initiatives.
Quality Assurance: Review tax workpapers, returns, and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with professional standards and firm policies.
Continuous Learning and Development: Stay current on industry trends, tax developments, and best practices through ongoing training, professional development opportunities, and participation in professional organizations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA license or progress towards certification preferred.
5+ years of experience in public accounting or tax advisory services, with a focus on tax planning, compliance, and consulting.
Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
Proficiency in tax software (e.g., CCH, Thomson Reuters) and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple client engagements, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively.
