Overview:We are looking for a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Tax Accountant to join our team. The Tax Accountant will be responsible for preparing and filing tax returns, analyzing financial data, and providing tax planning advice to our clients. This role requires a strong understanding of tax laws, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to communicate complex tax concepts effectively.
Responsibilities:
Tax Preparation and Filing:
Prepare and file tax returns for individuals, businesses, and other entities accurately and in a timely manner.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations, including staying updated on changes to tax laws and guidelines.
Review financial records, such as income statements and balance sheets, to determine the appropriate tax treatment.
Tax Planning and Consulting:
Provide tax planning advice to clients, identifying opportunities to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax savings.
Analyze financial data and documents to assess the tax implications of various transactions and decisions.
Assist clients in understanding complex tax issues and implementing strategies to achieve their tax objectives.
Client Communication and Support:
Communicate with clients to gather necessary information for tax filings and address any questions or concerns they may have.
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, demonstrating professionalism and expertise in all interactions.
Collaborate with other team members to ensure client needs are met and deadlines are consistently achieved.
Research and Analysis:
Conduct research on tax laws, regulations, and rulings to stay informed of changes and developments in the tax field.
Analyze tax-related issues and provide recommendations based on thorough research and understanding of client needs.
Assist in resolving tax inquiries and disputes, representing clients before tax authorities as needed.
Documentation and Recordkeeping:
Maintain accurate and organized records of tax-related documents and correspondence for each client.
Prepare documentation to support tax positions taken on client returns, ensuring compliance with recordkeeping requirements.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
4 years of experience in tax accounting or a similar role, preferably in a public accounting firm or corporate tax department.
Strong knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and procedures, with a focus on federal and state income taxation.
Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Excel; experience with tax research tools is a plus.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
