We are seeking a Senior Manager, Melt Optimization in Monroe, NC, for our Specialty Materials business unit. This critical role focuses on strategic blend management and cost efficiency of titanium (Ti) and nickel (Ni) materials. The successful candidate will play a key role in enhancing blend optimization strategies across all melt facilities, ensuring inventory cost management while maximizing revenue.
This position offers a unique opportunity to spearhead innovative blend optimization strategies in a leading materials science company. The role directly impacts our bottom line, involves high-level strategic planning, and requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to shape the future of material optimization.
Other Responsibilities:
Own and drive blend optimization throughout the melt facilities, managing inventory, costs, and maximizing revenue.
Develop blend optimization strategies and supporting programs to align with annual and five-year business plans.
Meet operational requirements, manage working capital targets, and leverage supplier capabilities and offerings.
Coordinate with other business units and internal stakeholders to optimize revert consumption.
Monitor blend performance, drive corrective actions and project plans, and communicate progress to stakeholders.
Lead cross-functional teams to ensure understanding and mitigation of quality, safety, and production risks.
Partner with Data Analytics to develop tools for monitoring and driving revert supply/consumption.
Facilitate meetings with melt departments to ensure the availability and understanding of materials to meet operational requirements.
Support identification and qualification of new revert streams.
Assist the raw material Procurement team by identifying non-recyclable and slow-moving revert.
Monitor market conditions and trends to adjust raw material procurement strategies to support business objectives.
Drive documentation and change control of key processes.
Develop and set strategic objectives for a business function or team.
Evaluate complex flow paths, identify key control parameters, and develop processes/tools to drive improvement.
Balance multiple projects with limited supervision in a fast-paced environment.
Work independently and collaboratively to achieve desired results.
Analyze and resolve difficult problems effectively through long-term solutions.
Negotiate and resolve conflicts effectively.
Foster collaboration, inspire confidence, and motivate individuals across diverse teams in a manufacturing environment.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
5 years of experience in a role with raw material blend management or revert conversion.
Proven leadership skills with a track record of managing cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
10 years experience in a role with raw material blend management or revert conversion.
5 years of proven leadership experience managing cross-functional teams.
APICS certification.
