Join The Farndon Unit in Newark on Trent as a Maintenance Assistant and Gardener where you will be part of creating a well presented and safe environment for some of the most vulnerable people in society.

As a Maintenance Assistant and Gardener, you will be responsible for ensuring the service facilities are fit for purpose, maintaining the grounds and regularly conducting audits to identify and repair any faults ensuring a safe environment for service users, staff and visitors.

Working alongside an established team, you will turn your hand to all maintenance-related tasks, liaising with contractors to support the upkeep of the service.

As a Maintenance Assistant and Gardener you will be:

Assisting with ensuring that the service, buildings, facilities and equipment requirements are maintained and fit for purpose.

Utilising good DIY skills to ensure safety of service users is maintained.

Assisting in regular checks and maintenance.

Assisting in the repair and maintenance of all buildings.

Assisting in all decorating.

Liaising with a manager reporting all faults and defects.

Participating in a 1 week retaining on-call rota for the purposes of emergency maintenance.

Coordinating and supporting contractors whilst on site and completing of all paperwork and tool checks.

Maintaining the perimeter fencing around boundaries

Maintaining the grounds including, grass cutting, weeding, hedges, flower beds.

Facilitating gardening groups with patients

To be successful in this role, you will:

Comply with system and procedures.

Have previous experience within a maintenance role.

Have gardening experience

Work effectively as part of a team and independently.

Show courtesy and respect to residents at all times to ensure that they enjoy the highest quality of service.

Attend and participate in training sessions and staff meetings.

Where you will be working:

Location: The Farndon Unit, Farndon Road, Newark on Trent, Nottinghamshire, NG24 4SW

You will be working at the Farndon Unit, a purpose-built low secure hospital which offers personalised assessment and recovery-based treatment pathways, including a trauma specific pathway, for women with complex care needs.

You will join the multidisciplinary team in providing specialist care for people with a diagnosis of severe and enduring mental illness and/or personality disorder and/or mild learning disability.

The combination of general low secure wards and a recovery ward area (also within the low secure perimeter) provide a seamless internal care pathway supporting and empowering recovery and rehabilitation.
