Adoption and Fostering service; Short Term and Therapeutic Fostering Team (STF) – The purpose of the STF team and this social work role is about supporting and supervising foster carers to achieve the best for children in their care, so that they can grow up to be the best that they can be.

The team supervises fostering households offering short term, emergency, short break, and permanent foster placements supervises and supports fostering households offering short term, emergency, short break, and permanent foster placements ensuring the needs of Children in Care are promoted effectively through their foster carers.

We also work in partnership with the Central Resource Service to match and place children needing foster placements, ensuring maximum use of in-house foster care placements. The Short Term team works closely with Suffolk’s Therapeutic Fostering Team.

This social work post will contribute by providing a holistic service to Fostering Families and the children in their care

In this social work post, you will:

* Work with a specialist team of Social Workers and Practitioners to deliver a high-quality service to Suffolk Foster carers

* Providing statutory supervision and support to foster carers

* Facilitate support groups and learning opportunities for foster carers

* Receive regular reflective supervision and peer group supervision

* Contribute creative and innovative ideas to improve practice in a well established and supportive team.

* Work closely with the Therapeutic team to promote trauma informed care and attachment training, alongside our Therapeutic social workers and our Clinicians to support children and carers in their placements.

* Work in partnership with the Placements team to match and place children needing foster placements and ensuring maximum use of in-house foster care placements.

* Work alongside childcare professionals to support children in their foster placements with regular communication and attendance at meetings.

* Undertake annual reviews and all statutory checks on fostering households within expected timescales – (required by Fostering Standards Regulations and guidance)

* Providing good quality, thorough and analytical recording and reports.

* Supporting carers to move children on to adoptive families

* Be curious about and able to work within a therapeutic framework, you must be highly self-reflective and able to model this with the foster carers you are working with

Qualifications and Professional Memberships:

* Suitable qualification at graduate level or equivalent experience in a relevant area of work.

* Evidence of continuing professional development.
