KEY SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

* Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrically biased) preferably with experience in service engineering on Packaging machinery within a factory environment.

* Must have an Electrical qualification

* Ideally time served

* Ability to develop and conduct training programmes for both current business and future projects.

* Excellent diagnostic skills and ability to identify root causes of common faults on a variety of machinery

* Capable of carrying out installations and projects on new and existing equipment.

* Must have the ability to read and program PLC’s and HMI’s

* Skilled Communicator.

* Strong team worker.

* Flexibility and Prioritisation of tasks.

* Ability to read and interpret drawings and schematics for machines

* Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

* Ability to identify areas for improvement within the Site.

* Computer literate

SUMMARY OF DUTIES / JOB OVERVIEW

* Adhering to all site Health & Safety, Hygiene Regulations and Safe Working procedures to assist in maintaining production lines to manufacture plastic packaging

* To ensure that all production and support equipment is maintained in a safe and efficient manner.

* To ensure that all machines are always kept in a safe and hygienic state to ensure product integrity and hygiene at all phases of the maintenance and repair process.

* To maintain accurate communication records and ensure that machine issues are logged and understood with a view to always looking for continuous improvement of the process and improvement of the repair process.

* To continually look to improve the operation and assist in cost saving initiatives, highlighting ideas to improve processes with Cell Leaders and Management.

* To perform additional tasks necessary as requested by the management team to ensure the smooth running of the site.

HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILLITIES

* Take responsibility for your own and your colleagues Health & Safety.

* Report any Health & Safety breaches witnessed or concerns regarding unsafe practices to site management.

* Responsible for the safety of equipment if and when modified in any way, following all up to date legislation.

* Lock off equipment while work is being carried out on equipment where required.

* Responsible for handing equipment back in a safe and hygienic state.

OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILLITIES

* Ensure that machinery is always out of production for the minimum time possible while working in a safe manner.

* Support production by identifying ways in which we can improve throughput and production performance by identifying improvements on the lines and machines.

* Identify any wastes on the equipment and then engineer out these wastes. This will include programming the line to improve speeds and throughputs. Carrying out strip down and refurbishment work as required. Re-design of any part of the line or machines on the line to improve throughput and performance.

* Possess good CI skills to be able to work with production operatives to establish best practice on the equipment so that we operate with minimum lost time and maximum outputs. The ability to work with people and lead them to find new and improved ways of working is a key skill for this position
