Overview

We are excited to offer a fantastic career opportunity for a Deputy Manager at a new children's home in St Helens. This role is ideal for someone who is committed to making a difference in the lives of children and young people. You will work closely with the Registered Manager to shape the culture and ethos of the home, ensuring a supportive and positive environment for both the residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team, including professionals and family members.
Promote and support children and young people in education, training, or employment.
Engage in life story work, restorative justice, and systemic family-based approaches to create a therapeutic environment.
Holistically promote the emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing of the children.
Participate in care planning, assessments, and contextual safeguarding.
Help develop life skills for children and young people to prepare them for life post-18.
Support and manage staff, including recruitment, induction, supervision, and professional development.
Assist in budgetary control and effective rota management.
Prepare for and attend key meetings, including strategy meetings.
Ensure staff respond appropriately to child protection concerns and follow relevant protocols.
Assist in holding team meetings and keeping staff informed of policies and procedures.
Handle administrative duties related to the home and provide reports for directors/board of governors and external inspectorates.

Requirements

Minimum of two years' experience in a residential children's provision.
Diploma Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent, with a willingness to complete Diploma Level 5 in Leadership and Management within residential children's home settings.
Ideally, knowledge of mental health, attachment and trauma, and the PACE model.
Supervisory experience and strong leadership skills.
Valid driving license.
Computer literacy.

Minimum Level 3 NVQ/Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) or an equivalent and relevant qualification, such as a degree.
At least one year of experience in a residential children's home (preferred).
