Because essentially the book stops with you, sure you might step out of the day-to-day from time, get handsomely rewarded with a high salary, more flexible working hours and a, more often than not, static working location, but it’s exceedingly hard work.

We’re partnered with a £20m turnover drylining business, based in the West Midlands, who are looking to add a successful, proven, and ambitious drylining commercial manager to their team.
They’re growing, across the UK and need to someone to step into that role and oversee a team of 3 more junior surveyors (project level still) who need guidance, and help them get to the next level.
You’d be looking at a salary of up to £65k, with a benefits package including a car (or allowance), private healthcare and death in service, among other things.
The company themselves are full of characters, ranging from the experienced, straight-talking MD, who you will report into, to the surveying team which is ambitious and knowledgeable, which has helped to prop up their extremely well-liked, great-to-work-for reputation.
You’ll just need to check a few things before clicking apply to see if you’re suitable:
* 5+ years’ experience in a Quantity Surveying position
* Ideally 5+ years’ experience in drywall, though adjacent industries such as joinery and facades would be okay
* A degree in surveying or commercial management would be great too, any higher education in a similar field would suffice, though don’t rule yourself out if you have tons of experience
* And of course, your full driving license
