About the Company:
We are an innovative medical devices manufacturer of advanced wound care products, including
combination products, from gelling fibres and fabrics. We deliver innovative, cost effective and quality
products and solutions for the advanced wound care industry helping to improve patient care and
wellbeing.
This role blends the manufacturing financial accounting, financial analysis, and planning of Finance with the technical analytics of cost accounting to get a truly comprehensive view of the business. The role involves working closely with the Operations Team, to provide actionable intelligence to executive leadership, working closing with those leaders to drive global growth and expansion.
Senior Financial Controller - duties to include:
• Directly provide cost accounting analytics, forecasting, budgeting, and monthly reviews of KPI's and
metrics
• Own the Material costs and PPV metrics, variable and fixed costs variances and targeting including Long
Range Planning.
• Drive the agenda, being responsible for partnering with the business and building annual budgets as well as quarterly forecasts.
• Own day- to-day management and oversight of our site manufacturing metrics and KPI's including being
the finance lead for Inventory Controls and Management
• Drive our cost accounting activities including scrap reconciliations, standard costing process, manufacturing variances, routing creations, deep dives and reviews to ensure cohesive reporting and
metrics.
• Drive process improvements and cross functional projects within the company.
• Drive team development including accounting skills, reporting capabilities and career development.
• Maintain internal controls of systems and procedures.
• Prepare monthly management accounts.
• Support month-end and year-end close process.
• Prepare weekly and monthly cash flow forecast and analysis.
• Remain well informed of relevant financial policies and regulations and be the main point of contact for
day-to-day dealings with the Company's external auditor.
• Identify and drive cost savings and revenue opportunities throughout the business by working with
managers and budget holders.
• Managing the Company's banking, insurance and company secretariat relationships.
• Carry out taxation calculations in accordance with HMRC submission and payment deadlines with
support from the Company's tax advisors, including but not limited to VAT returns.
• Ensure that statutory accounts are appropriately prepared with a clear audit trail.
Senior Financial Controller - Key skills / abilities:
• Typically requires a Bachelor's degree with 15-20+ years of industry experience
• 5-8 years of previous people management experience
• Essential Financial Qualification: ACA, ACCA or CIMA
• You are skilled in developing and implementing financial concepts across cost accounting and FP&A
• You are experiences with cost accounting in a manufacturing plant, including developing and setting
standard costs, setting rates, and reviewing bill of materials.
• You have a deep understanding of general accounting principles (accruals, prepaids, audit
requirements), and Inventory management.
• You display professional courage to work with executive level leadership and own the financial strategy
and results.
• You are curious and drive to always continue learning within the cost accounting realm and execute on
process improvements.
• You are highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including developing and/or improving
financial models, reporting and analytics.
• You demonstrate good communication skills and comfortable working with upper levels of
management.
• You are used to work in a manufacturing environment where you own and execute the process. You are
very much hands-on and passionate about manufacturing in a lean environment.
• You will work on site being hands on with our Operational and Leadership team.
• Experience or working with an overseas group where local statutory accounting policies are not
necessarily the same as group reporting requirements.
• Experience of ERP implementation would be an advantage.
• Demonstrable ability for flexible and innovative thinking.
• The ability to work within a Quality / Compliance environment.
• Able to get on with and influence people internally to achieve objectives.
• Able to work with minimum supervision and as part of a team.
• Proactive attitude and capable of working to tight deadlines under pressure.
• Commercial awareness.
