Local Unit & Position Description
Area Germany is part of the Maritime Region West Europe. The Area offers Maritime classification services through 120 committed employees in eight German locations, with its headquarters in Hamburg. Services delivered are Newbuilding (NB) as well as Classification and Verification of Material and Components (CMC/VMC), while Fleet in Service (FiS) is organized in a separate service line across the Region.
We are looking for a CMC/VMC Surveyor to join our team in the Ruhr area (office Essen), reporting to the local Team Lead.
About the role
DNV provides several services for Product Certification and Verification in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
The team West Germany with office in Essen consists of 15 employees and is responsible for all customers in West Germany (North Rhine-Westphalia, parts of Rhineland-Palatinate, parts of Lower Saxony). We visit our customers and witness testing and inspection of materials and products, intended for installation on ships and offshore installations, but also for other industrial applications.
For our team West Germany we are looking for a Surveyor who should be located in the Ruhr area and will be working mostly at the customer site as well as in the home office with regular meetings in the Essen office. After successful on-the-job training and qualification, if applicable, the job consists of:
Main responsibilities:
Certification and verification of materials and components for marine and offshore applications underclass and non-class related systems and processes
Assessment and auditing of production capabilities at manufacturers according to different maritime schemes
Management of our clients together with other relevant parts of our organization and technical responsibility for individual selected customers as well as sales supporting activities together with the DNV line management
Project-orientated work and cooperation in interdisciplinary verification projects
Marketing work for identifying additional VMC opportunities
About you
Position qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Marine or Naval Engineering or other relevant discipline
Valid qualification and good knowledge as CMC/VMC Surveyor desirable
Valid qualification as Welding Engineer desirable
Experience within the Maritime industry
Professional experience at a manufacturer as well as previous experience in dealing with classification in this context desirable
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record meeting company requirements
Depending on technical profile, willingness to support your competence development to obtain the necessary qualification elements of DNV's Maritime Training and Authorization Scheme (MTAS)
