Aravo is looking for an experienced, outgoing, motivated, and hands-on Controller to join our rapidly growing organization and drive success across our accounting department. Reporting directly to the CFO, this person will own our general accounting processes and procedures in a rapid growth environment. The right candidate will be able to identify opportunities for improvement and automation, manage competing priorities with grace while working to proactively meet deadlines, and drive results managing a team that values a coaching/mentoring management style in a fast-paced SaaS/tech company.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Oversees the preparation of periodic financial statements, activity reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets.
Monitors budgets throughout the year and reports any significant deviations to senior leadership with analysis detailing the cause for the deviation and corrective action(s) necessary.
Monitors expenses throughout the year and confers with appropriate personnel regarding discrepancies or variances.
Compare performance against plans and forecasts; report and interpret results to all levels of management
Experience with financial metrics/business acumen specifically as it relates to SaaS (Churn, CAC, ACV, ARR, Rule of 40, etc)
Accounting/Compliance:
Prepare and lead the timely financial reporting for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting. Lead the period-end close process for the business.
Manage day-to-day accounting operations, and the full financial reporting process including financial statements, departmental reporting, bank reconciliations, etc.
Leading our month, quarter, and year-end closing processes, ensuring detailed trial balances are maintained and financial reports are submitted accurately and in a timely manner
Experience with GAAP, SaaS Revenue Accounting (ASC 606), Professional Services Revenue Accounting, Contract Cost Capitalization (ASC 340), Lease Accounting (ASC842), Accounts Payable, Expense Management, Accounts Receivable, and Reconciliations
Payroll, benefits reconciliations, sales tax returns, and multi-state payroll and tax compliance
Fixed Asset and Prepaids depreciation and amortization
Covenant reporting & management
International accounting such as foreign exchange, VAT returns, payroll administration, audits, and regulatory reporting
Stock compensation expensing and management of capitalization tables
Risk & Audit:
Primary liaison leading various audits and managing tax compliance, writing financial statement footnotes, documenting current processes, and suggesting improvements
 Business Partnering/Intelligence:
Foster a culture of strong financial discipline and business integrity. Promote a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement. Identify and drive process improvement initiatives to successful completion
Analyzing and reviewing accounts to provide actionable, data-driven insights for management
Support implementation activities of Sales Operations automation along with other automations within accounting
 
Requirements
What you’ll bring to the team:

Deep experience in multiple accounting disciplines, and the ability to guide, coach, and develop team members to further their own skills
Experience with a variety of accounting and financial systems including Financial Force (Certinia), Datarails, Tableau, Avalara, Salesforce, iSolved, and the MS Office Suite
 
What you need to be successful:
BS in Accounting or Finance with excellent problem-solving skills
Extensive background across the full accounting lifecycle, and 6+ years of experience leading highly effective, growth-oriented teams
Experience in a fast-paced, high-growth SaaS Technology company with M&A strongly preferred
Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role
Expert-level knowledge of US GAAP, creating internal reports, leveraging systems, running month-end/year-end close processes, and managing audits
Experience with Sales Tax Returns, Credit Card Expense Management, Domestic and International Payroll Entries, AP/AR, Financial Reporting, Prepaids/Accruals, and Reconciliations
Proven experience working cross-functionally within an organization to support departmental and organizational objectives
Experience establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal and financial controls
A strong sense of business ethics, integrity, and discretion in a multi-hat position
Experience with software implementations including quote to cash, payroll systems, sales operations, and ERP systems
Flexible and Dynamic, hard-working, and able to pivot direction quickly to keep up with business demands
Not afraid of new technologies and as eager to teach as learn
Ability to read professional services and SaaS subscription contracts
